Trama

I set the rules … but maybe it’s time to break them…

For Charlotte Blair, life has never been easy. Growing up in a poor family, she had to constantly scrimp and save in order to afford college. Unfortunately, medical bills drain her savings and she finds herself further behind the 8-ball than ever. How will she ever be able to afford nursing school?

Coming from a tightknit and wealthy family life has never been particularly hard for football star Dax Taylor. Born with natural ability as well as a father and older brother to train him, it appears as if Dax is on his way to football stardom. However, unearned success can be deadly and Dax finds himself falling for the easy temptations of money and fame. So much so, they are threatening his career. What can he do?

When Dax meets Charlotte at the Café she works at he hits upon the perfect plan. She will pretend to be his perfect girlfriend for the press and he will pay her school tuition in return. The ground rules are set and they couldn’t be simpler. Charlotte will not have to have sex with Dax and, in return, Charlotte promises to not fall in love. Easy, right? What could go wrong? It turns out … everything.

Dax e Charlotte si incontrano una sera sul posto di lavoro di lei. Fa la cameriera in un ristorante di passaggio per camionisti, lui invece è una star del football americano come suo padre e suo fratello prima di lui, ed è ubriaco insieme a degli amici che sono alla ricerca di una serata da bere gratis. 

Il giorno dopo Dax, svegliandosi, trova suo padre in casa sua, incavolato nero. E cosi decide di usare la giovane rossa come finta fidanzata per pulire la sua immagine di bad boy. 

E non va tutto come previsto...

Ultra rapido è dir poco. Il libro è incentrato principalmente sull'attrazione che i due provano, poche scene si basano sulla loro vita passata mentre quelle che narrano dei loro sentimenti sono momenti profondi e molto intensi, strappalacrime dunque e compensano il libro dall'essere solo un romance piatto e superficiale. 

I personaggi secondari meriterebbero una storia secondo me. Come il padre e la madre di Dax e la malattia che li colpisce, o la storia di Shirley e del suo sexy ex marito! 

3 Farfalle. Non il massimo dei voti perché avrei preferito più introspezione per Charlotte e Dax. Entrare nelle loro vite e scoprire i segreti più profondi. Ma tutto sommato lo consiglio e spero venga tradotto.
